Goat Vocabulary

·       Buck – adult male goat

·       Culled – term used when a goat has been sold to market

·       Doe – adult female goat

·       Dry goat – a goat who is not producing milk

·       Dry period – the time during which the doe does not produce milk.  When a kid is being weaned.

·       Goats – general for does, kids, wethers, bucks

·       Kid – a baby goat

·       Kidding – the term when a female goat gives birth to a kid

·       Lactating – a period of time when the goat is producing milk.

·       Udder – a sac hanging from the underside of the goat’s belly between and in front of the rear legs which holds the goats milk.

  ·  Wether – a non-breeding male
